- Description
- Are second languages subject to a Critical Period in the same way first languages are? Regardless of the massive volume of published research that this question has generated, a lot of controversy and disagreement remains among researchers. This paper reviews some aspects of this question with reference to learnability, the nature of language processing in the mind, the nature of second language grammars, the types of errors second language learners commonly produce, etc., and offers a theoretical account which eliminates some of the central arguments against Critical Period for second languages.
